Growing up on the coast (MD), most of my buddies had boats before we had cars, and that is a lot nicer than what some of us had.

Nothing better than that first trip in your first boat, makes fishing a whole nother ball game.

just remember, lots of people with high dollar boats and mega dollars spent on tackle cant even fish worth a darn. They buy them because they thrive on having the best, the most expensive and they love to look good when launching or driving down the highway.

Boats don't catch fish. I'd fish main lake with that sucker. Look at what all the giant bass slaying old timers used to fish out of, no power poles or 95 mph runs back then.

Not going to win any tourneys with that rig but it'll get you on the water!

Everyone has to start somewhere. Pretty sure KVD could whoop most of us out of a canoe.

I agree with this statement! Back about 25-30 yrs ago, I felt the need to always have new fiberglass bass boats and they always looked good. As time passed and my perspective changed(maturity), I decided I would scale back to a smaller aluminum boat(Tracker/40 hp), and wouldn't you know it, I caught more bass than I could have ever hoped for. Now, I must admit that I didn't look as good or go as fast in my Tracker as my previous Rangers and Skeeters. I fished the local rivers, bayous, and lakes using very little fuel and had a blast. The biggest bass I ever caught came from Sam Rayburn while fishing from my Tracker in 1995. Just appreciate what you have and when you can upgrade, do it if you choose but never forget that it's not about the pretty boat with power poles, side imaging, Oakley sunglasses, $500 rod and reels, etc. It's about enjoying and appreciating the outdoors that God has provided and hopefully sharing it with someone along the way.....building memories! Sorry for the long post.

Exactly.

i have fished out of a lot smaller boat than that and caught a few fish too. I can now have any boat that i want to have , and have a FX20 Skeeter. don't know about thriving on it but just bought it because i wanted it and could afford it.but it does look good on the lake and on the highway too.

I feel bad about using mine for a workbench now. I guess I need to move all the [censored] off it and get it to the lake.
