I just have to vent it seems that this Napoleonic syndrome is really getting big this summer. These boat owners have zero regard for anything on the water and off. This has been festering inside me for quite some time. Today I saw something that just blew my cap I was gassing up at the station and in zooms a truck with two guys in their 40's and a family of teenagers and parked over not only 5 spots in the front of the gas station but right over the top of a handicap parking spot. I almost fell over dead, my son and I went in to pay and I told the driver that sure was a nice parking job and it hasn't been cool to park in handicap spots when you're not handicapped since you were in high school and he didn't say one word. I've seen numbers of wake-board boat owners just doing nothing other than buzzing fishing boats creating wake that makes the water un-fishable and almost capsized a grandpa and granddaughter in a canoe fishing right next to the dam.

These people aren't even skilled wake-boarders they don't have any amount of rope out and are not going fast enough to actually use their wake to have fun they're just putting around with ten foot of line out pulling the boarders right behind the boat going slow and spitting out 4' swells. They also will not utilize open water it seems like they are all noobs who think it's cool to burn 50 gallons of gas just to go 8 mph. For the most part it's been punk kids using daddy's boat and they just don't know that they are idiots it's their old mans fault and he should be slapped for not showing them right from wrong but today I actually saw the old man and know exactly that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I'm sorry if I stereotype but until I see a wake-board boat worthy of respect they are all "in the same boat" in my eyes now.

I agree Pat. It seems when they put on swim shorts their brain gets left at home.

yup...its bad around here too. I dont know how many boaters ride around creating as big a wake as possible without pulling anything. Technically you aren't even supposed to drive your boat like that, according to Texas boating laws. You should drive on a plane or as if it were a no wake zone. Aimlessly creating wake does nothing for anyone as is unsafe.

I thank God for each day!

Pat,
Lots of these boats have ballast tanks inside them. They fill them up with water to make the boat heavier, ride lower in the water and throw a bigger wake. The ones you see right behind the boat are actually trying to "wake surf". Eventually they will learn how to let go of the rope and surf behind the boat while just standing on their board. And folks wonder why we have erosion problems with banks and shore lines washing away on the lakes around here.

I like when your sitting still and they come straight at you, and right when you're about to jump out of the front seat, they turn.

Or the 30' cruiser anchored with 2 pwc's tied/drifting 50' off the back. Oh yeah, this was about 5:00 this morning with no lights on.

We used to wake board a lot behind my bass boat back home but we could run around 22 mph which is what most of us prefered and and stay on plane. Now we used to tie the tow rope off short just so we could jump one wake a clear the other, that makes me wonder if they were trying to do that, but I don't think 8 mph would get it done........

fixed it for ya grin

Seriously though, they are responsible for their wakes, and damages associated with it. Its another reason I try to fish during the week, and not on weekends. Too many idiots out there, and someone is gonna get hurt.

Be defensive, and aware of your surroundings, cause they arn't. Ensure you have the GW\LEO on speed dial, another reason to carry good optics thumb

Yep, that seems to be the new thing here on CC, they go real slow & put out a huge wake & surf it, right behind the boat. like you said, when there good at it, they can toss the rope back in to the boat & just surf the wake & they are able to keep up with the boat. I just move some where else.

2 Bedroom Lake house on CC for rent. P.M. me!

Really pisses me off when they go by and wave at you. I always wave back with 1 finger. Happened yesterday on Granger.

Keep on fishing.

Apparently the cove that I loaded my boat was the only calm one on the lake yesterday. There were 4 wake boats throwing huge wakes right by the boat ramp. It took me a while to trailer my boat because whenever the waves rolled in it would pick my boat up off the trailer and knock it around. It was a no wake zone by the ramp too.

This.

I have a buddy that has a 20 ft malibu that when his ballast tanks are filled, it adds another 2000 lbs the the rear end of the boat. Also has a thing called a wedge that when deployed is like what a spoiler does for a drag car.

A spoiler uses the air force on the wing to keep the back end of the car down. That design was added to malibus wakeboard boats to essentially drag the rear end of the boat deeper by deploying the wedge underneath the prop. Ive seen that thing going 23mph to wake surf and throwing 4-5' wakes.

But enough of that, hes a respectful boater and has known the laws of the waterwas as long as I have (since we were 14). There will be plenty of times our friends will gripe at us for not going into a certain cove they have picked out due to A) we see 3 guys crappie fishing and B) I knew that cove was loaded with stumps 2 ft under the surface and also a few of my personal brushpiles.

no wake means .......NO WAKE....
maybe a quick call to the game warden will check them fools ......
ALL BOATS have TX numbers you know .....
BUSTED !
it boils me to have to put up with these rude ALL I CARE ABOUT IS ME people ......
AND THIS A IS MASSIVE DANGER TO OTHER BOATERS !
one should respect other boats on the water .....
AND abide by the laws and regulations
REMEMBER ,,,,local game warden on speed dial ....
a few calls to the law and that @!#@ will stop
