Its good tough line. Use it for worming or jigs.

Well I used my TRILENE XL This morning. Sweet line. I was intentionally abusing it by backlashing and bird nesting. The box said it was kink resistant and I'm a believer! Also through it in some lumber using a hookless crankbait. Seems to be pretty abrasion resealient as well. Through my buzzbait in the reeds to test it's stretch. It is still mono, so it still stretches, but it definitely had a different feel. It stretch as if it was a hybrid fluorocarbon. So, it felt more like it had some tensil strength, not like a Big Game slingshot.

Not a prefect test. I need to check its longevity and push the envelope again. For now, I'm attracted to it and will buy some more.

I've tried everything out there for cranks, and my experience has been that less stretch results in fewer boated fish. After trying all the latest & greatest, I've settled back in with 15# Big Game for most applications. It's cheap, strong, reasonably abrasion resistant, and provides the stretch that prevents the bass from throwing the bait as long as you keep the pressure on. It doesn't have the sensitivity of braid or fluoro, but for me, seems to do a better job of getting them in the boat.

I prefer a bit of stretch when cranking so I use mono. The exception for me would be cold water jerkbait fishing when I desire a more sensitive feel of the bait.

BINGO!

More sensitivity due to less stretch.Better hook sets as a rsult of this too.

Should get the stretch from the rod not the line in my opinion. less stretch in the line results in more "feel" of what the lure is doing as well as being able to have just enough resistance to be able to set the hooks when they bite. Then the rod will be the set up to give the fish room to fight.

As much as no stretch Flouro making technical sence over mono, I think it also boils down to fishing style and personal preference. Many use Flouro exclusively, others used Flouro for CBs and braid for heavy structure applications. Some use mono for everything and we suspect they do because they don't understand what other lines are used for.

For those that perfer for reasons stated is their informed decision. I personally use all three types of lines, with or without leaders for different applications. I have recently experimented with TRILENE XL and I'm having a great experience with it. I also am a great advocate of Nanofil line which many either don't know what it is, or have used it and don't like it.

As to sensitivity, yes, mono lacks this in respect to other line type, however I suspect in cold conditions mono's sensitivity increases due to the simple physics of molecular structure in rigid conditions.

I like McCoys Mean Green when I am not using a fluorocarbon line.

I only use fluoro if I'm throwing a DD and need to get it down a little further. Use mono for every other crankbait. If I was using a glass rod I might go with fluoro but with my moderate graphite rods I still prefer a little stretch in the line for most treble hook baits. I lose less fish with mono than I did with fluoro. Sufix Deep Crankin line has worked well for me.
