I love my Dobyns Randy McBee 764... It's not a glass rod though. I also throw shakey heads, weightless worms / flukes and finesse jigs on it when i need to. If you do go with a Dobyns glass rod, try to get some in your hands first, I had the 704cb and 705cb glass rods and the 704 was way too whippy for me and the 705 was too stiff. There's a 705cb mod fast glass and a 765cb glass but I haven't had or handled either. I know what I want out of a particular rod so I don't always go by what the manufacturer says its for... Also I'm not a pro staffer for Dobyns just a very happy customer. Goodluck with your hunt / purchase!

You cant go wrong with Dobyns I still have alot of Falcon rods as well but my Dobyns set-ups are quickly catching them great rods.

Didn't mean to start anything. But for under $200 like the OP stated reel time rods would be hard to beat.

I would lean toward a 6 1/2 ft. medium to medium light action. I've used glass and never liked the sensitivity or the weight. Soften the action on a graphite and it will do everything and more than glass.
I also won't spend $300 on a rod, too much can happen to fishing rods. A good Falcon or St.Croix will do everything you're trying to do and put plenty of fish in the boat.

any suggestions on the $200 or less for a cranking rod would like it to be glass. been using a skeet reese and i love the feel of it but the components are junk and giving out on me. I have one of Trey's (Kistler) new magnesium deep crankers with the micro guides and it casts a country mile. I fished it on Falcon and it held up great and it has a nice soft tip without being a buggy whip.

Give Denali Rods a chance you won't be disappointed. You can look at thirty jade wood and rosewood models. Thirty 7'6 MH crankbait rod is awesome. Super light and built with the best components available.

power tackle rods are about $250 and very good. dobyns rods are just a little over $200 and also very good. I would spend the extra few bucks and go with one of them. +1 On the Power Tackle rods. One of the best rods made!

Dobyns dobyns dobyns, Fished with Andrew Grills and he was using a reel time rod and it was money as well.
