apparently the Main unit must be hooked up to the structure scan unit LSS-1 or LSS-2 in order for the update to take I have both the gen 1 & gen 2 units along with LSS 1 & LSS 2 ss and never connected my units up to the boat to update....i've always updated them in the house without any problems.....

Eric,
I was going to offer to send you the 4.0 software but I see that you have gotten everything squared away. I have always updated my units while in the house and have never had any issues. I run the 4.1 software and like it but some have complained that it messed up their 2D sonar sensitivity. If you decide you want to go back let me know and I will send you the previous version.

If someone has gotten their unit set up nice again after the 4.1 mess can you post the settings you finally liked? It may help some of us hackers from fumbling around messing up more than we fix. +1 Did this and my sonar works great. Guys, 4.1 software is lot better then previous 4.0 software codes. At the Skeeter and the Legend tournaments..I had guys come up to me and say they load the latest code 4.1 and they couldn't get to set right... only thing I changed is put the unit in shallow water mode then change color line to 72-74, noise reduction and surface clutter on low and ping speed 18-19. and put the unit in auto sensitivity and set it at zero. then bamm.. these guys where happy...
FYI, some of these guys, all I had to change is there auto sensitivity.. they had there bias turn way up or way down.. I told them leave it at zero..if anything.. +1 or -1.
