Report: Epic Started the morning side scanning around the typical areas looking to see where the shad were. Cause where the shad are, the sandies are not far behind them. Found a massive school of bait and started slabbing. One here and there, but nothing fun. So we went to the rail road tracks and my side scan lit up. Stopped the boat and told my crew to start blind casting. Caught a couple dozen off the bottom, then the whole area started to boil. I had them using a slab and a fly on one line, so all three of my clients were catching doubles every cast almost. Put an extra fly on the little lady's line so she was catching 3 at a time..... The fish stayed up even as we left, and they were still boiling near the rail road tracks. We got a "Two-Man Limit" and a "One Woman Limit" of sand bass. So 75 keepers. Kept all fish over 11 inches. They actually landed over 400 white bass on this expedition. The shad they are feeding on are no more than 2 inches, so we were throwing 1/4 oz slabs in chartreuse. We stopped at only one crappie hole, that no one knows about , and I told them they would definitely catch a 14 inch crappie at this spot. - He caught a 15 inch White Crappie! Heck of a slab. Picked off 7 crappie off of this one solitary stick, and went back to the boiling sandies. Had to leave them hitting and boiling to get back to dock, due to it just got to hot out. Everything on the boat, was to hot to touch, even the rods got really hot...... Great day on the water.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Thanks. Report: Sunday.. Fish would not sit still today. They were on the move. Saw a couple boils here and there, but the lake cooled down from the storms yesterday and we had a North wind. Had to work for them a little more than usual, but still ripped some lips, and eye balls. Stupid yellow bass were killing us and the treble hooks were hooking into a lot of the yellows eye balls, weird. If you can get the slab down to the bottom, without a yellow latching on, you had a 70% average of hooking a keeper sandie. Slabbed up 3 crappie off a road bed too..... Fish settled into 18-22 ft at Lavonia flats and drop offs. Look for shad flickering on the surface and the sandies won't be far behind. 1/4 oz chart slabs. Now for a mind blower. As the severe wind gust hit the lakes, one drowned on White Rock Lake while paddle boarding. 3 boats sunk at Ray Hubbard 8 boats sunk at Lake Lavon - yes, ( 8 ) - all within and hours time frame.

We were out saturday and the yellows seem to have really exploded on Lavon. We caught about 3 yellows for every sandie.
I was outside when that wind came up and thought that anyone on a lake could be in serious trouble because it came up so fast.

The yellows are thicker than I have seen in a awhile out there. 3-5 inches. Very annoying at times. But if you find the yellows, the sandies r below them. I have changed to bronze hooks instead of stainless. The shine on the stainless steel was triggering the yellow to bite. They didn't care about the slab, just the shiny shad colored hooks. I changed to bronze hooks and my yellow bass ratio went way down after that. Wish I did that earlier, would have saved a lot of time. And another side note, I cut off one of the treble hooks and makes it way easier to unhook them. Expecially if u mash the barbs down. You won't loose a fish unless u slack out ur line. Or, take the treble off and put on a size 6 hook. Eagle claw. Works just as good.
