For me it's the whole process, Getting up early in the morning, preparing a day or two before, tossing and turning the night before not being able to sleep in anticipation. The smell of 2-stroke the morning of, listening for your launch # to be called out. Heading to that first magical spot.Feeling the cool breeze on face and hearing the rumble of the outboard as you plot a course to the fertile hunting grounds. Hell, I even appreciate the rough days when the master plan goes wayward and you have to scramble and grind the entire day just to be competitive. I LOVE THE WHOLE PROCESS! I'm with you bro.....I like it all. If rounding the point and heading up north along the long cut at 6 AM dont make you feel alive then nothing will.

All of the above, but to add to the list.
When you pitch a jig in an area that you know a fish has to be, I seem to forget to breathe during this time.
And, I don't tournament fish much, but when I do, the last few minutes before the first cast, what a rush!

I like when you crawl your jig through a top you sank on a point you studied to get the placement just right. Get the jig just on the outer edge of the top..... Pause give one good shake and your line jumps and you know instantly from the wide head thrashes this fish is big and coming straigt to the top. Good feeling when you calculate and study and present and it falls into place and even better when it was a tournament day when you reaped the rewards.

For me it is When I set the hook and it feels like a brick wall, then the drag starts to scream. Me too +1 Nothing feels better than laying into a big one and getting that fight started. It makes the 5 days I spent at work that week seem worth it.

Either seeing your line move off on a jig or pitching it right into the middle of a bush and they thump it on the way down. Nothing better than setting the hook and the whole bush shakes and comes alive. Love a jig bite.

When you're running down the lake with 5ft rollers and drop off in the bottom of one wave and then launch off the top of the next one, oh yea that will get your blood pumping.

I fish for several reasons but the main one is...that thump on a semi slack line.
The second or so between feeling the bite and setting the hook is anticipation unlike any other.
I can't count how many times I've startled myself awake at night setting the hook after dreaming I felt a tick or a thump.

For me, its the hookset. For that split second of the rod loading up and feeling that big head shake. Then trying to tell your partner in the boat with you to get the net without everyone else on the lake hearing you.

I love fishing on the bottom for this very reason. That couple of seconds after the set where you have know idea whats on the end of the line. Could be 3-5-10. Just the anticipation of is this the fish of my lifetime. Gotta Love It!
