Man that is erie. I passed by the funeral home on 276 in tawakoni yesterday and Gary Gruber was on the sign. Can't be the same one could it? I immediately thought about the tournament that was held on Sandlin for him and was saddened. Prayers sent.

My heart goes out to Gary's family as well. We all know what an awesome fisherman he was. A few years ago we were fishing a media tournament on Sandlin (he won by the way). He and I were sharing a point with grass on it and listening to the Cowboys football game:) I only managed a couple of fish and a few pounds and he kicked our arse with over 20lbs! But that short day I remember how nice and a gentlemen he was. We shared the water and he kept me up to date on the cowboys score. From all those who knew him better it sound like he was an excellent man. He will surely be missed. Prayers out to the family.

Gary was cremated today. I do not know where, but somewhere out there in NE Texas. He lived out on Lake Franklin, down 154. Actually, his 911 addres is 698 Lakeside Ct. Winnsboro, TX., at the old hunting club. So, I am sure it was teh same Gary. THANKS to all for their prayers for the family. Cari seemed to be holding up okay, but you could tell she was under some strain, as you would expect.

Respectfully,

Thad Rains

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Thad Rains, is it ok if CAST can post this info since he fished with the CAST family. Our prayers are with Cari and family.

Thad, thanks for posting the info on the service. I'd been trying to find out. Butch and I fished the benefit tournament and at least got to see Gary. At least he's at peace and our prayers are with Cari and his family! The Northeast region of CAST sends our prayers.

Gary was an outstanding fisherman, and one of the really good guys. He was a very generous person who would give you the shirt off his back. He was generous with his fishing knowledge, and would share information, even when competing with you, because he was just that confident in his own abilities to still beat you, even if you knew what he was doing. He will most definitely be missed.
