Just got back from a little vacation just north of Utopia on the Sabinal River. Fished a stretch of the river just south of Lost Maples National Park from 6/25-6/28 (Fire Fox cabins). Had lots of fun with my fly rod catching many small BG and Bass in about 1-2 ft of water on dragon fly and small yellow poppers. Had a blast, and the trip culminated with a trip to Utopia Park Lake on the morning of 6/28. Showed up with my Yak all ready to go around 6:45, and wouldn't you know it... left all my tackle back at the house 20 min away except a single green texas rigged swim tail worm . Well I went ahead and launched and thought I would at least take in the sights of a small but beautiful lake in Utopia and ended up catching 10-12 Bass on that single texas rigged worm... two of which were pushing 3+ pounds. Funny how things work out sometimes!

Over all an awesome trip to an area that I have never been before, but would love to return to. Here are a few pics...

Awesome! I think I posted on your thread a while back. Glad the river had water in it and you got to check out the little lake in Utopia. Great report.
PS- They sometimes stock trout in Utopia Lake in the winter.
