For cats from the bank, the area behind Haggar Headquarters on Luna Rd is very good. Blues and channels mostly, with an occasional flathead. The area behind the building can be good, and the area across the water from there, below the apartments springing up all over the place there, is also quite good.

Farther downstream on Riverside, in the Campion Trails park, the wide spot and bend in the river behind the parking lot, picnic tables, grills and covered pavilion is good, with water depths there from 6 inches to over 20 ft in the channel.

The Northwest Highway bridge is a good spot too. Fish UNDER the bridge, very deep water there too. Park at the DART transit center and walk across the street.

Those should do for starters, and once you get a feel for the river, I am sure you will find your own hotspots.

Good luck, and let us know when the fish fry is, I will bring some "ADULT" beverages!

Rudy

The cats love chicken liver. The bass like everything, the crappie like jigs and minnows.

The elm fork south of 380 gave me more crappie today. I have been fishing every day this week, due to the fact that I am on vacation.... I put the crappie on the grill last night with steaks! Yum yum.... Going again in the morning.... Need more crappie!!! And by the way... I cleaned up a spot with my little girl this week and some one has already trashed it... and it was not Elm Fork... but it was off of 380...

Did you see the size of that chicken?!.

So,I went down to Haggar today.I brought beef liver and dip bait.I'm thinking I caught them at a weird time, with the cool front coming in. That is an unreal looking fishery,so much evidence of activity(dorsal fins, bass jumping, cats swirling),no question in my mind, they're in there. So I caught a channel about 8 am.I met this other guy down there who was line fishing for bluegill because his sandbass weren't biting too well.I borrowed one of his bluegill and put a circle hook on it and a weight.I think something was trying to get to the bluegill,as he was missing his tail and a bit under his midsection(but whatever it was,he missed the hook.)Great looking spot. Thanks so much for the info.I didn't have a full day,but I will definitely be back. Has anybody tried Fossil Creek this time of year?
