As the title says Im trying to convert my side console Xpress to center. I have hit a bit of a problem with running the steering. I cant find any pictures of the bare hull. Does anyone here have a Xpress Bay boat?

They normally run from helm to starboard-inside of console through a large hole in the floor to another hole in startboard side of splashwell.

yeah thats what im kinda thinking is a C channel with some tabs welded to the side of the channel so I can screw it to the floor. The only problem I have thus far is the gas tank and live-well are in the way of making a straight shot to the console. There is a drain well below both of the gas tank and live-well but it stops just past the live-well which is short of getting past it to run the lines below it. I was thinking I could run clear acrylic tubing up the drain well and then bring it up under the console but I am being blocked by a wall that is welded. I dont understand how this boat drains if thats as far as the drain well goes....

Gary,

That would probably be the easiest route since the cables are already ran that way...

Well I went ahead and cut a hole starboard side of the live well to run the controls on top of the floor to the console.... It's kinda hard to keep it as clean as I wanted it to be. O well... I'm thinking of covering the cables with C channel and weld tabs on the channel to screw it to the floor. Any better ideas to covering the controls?

Main reason is so I can stand up to drive and see what I'm running over and the second is that I am often by myself and my boat rides leaning to the right with just me. So this way I can fit 3 people on here comfortably now with two at the helm and one on the seat of the console.

My next problem is that I had a 703 Yamaha remote with "fast idle" lever and the new remote for the console is a 704 I believe it is meant for a fourstroke. Is there anyway to run a manual fast idle to the engine?

AHHAH I found a button release on the side of the 704 controller for fast idle.

I will have to post pictures when I get back from my trip.
But I have ran all the cables and wires and now all that is left to wire the switches. Ignition and throttle are all wired.

Done! Now for the bedliner!
If you decide to do this just shoot me a message and I can share with you a little more in detail how I did it.

The interior panels on aluminum boats are usually held in place by pop rivets and the cables and wiring bundles are hidden behind it. I drilled out all of the rivets on that side in my G3 to rewire everything and put it back in with 3/16", 1/2" reach aluminum rivets. If yours is welded, than I don't know, but there has to be a better way than just having a wiring harness laying in the floor.
