I stopped by my favorite spot on the elm fork after work and caught these plus a few smaller ones in 20 minutes. All were caught on slab bandits. Sure was fun. Going to give it a shot again in the am.

It does hold a smorgasbord of fish species and the beautiful thing is you can catch a different species on each cast! I was tempted to go down there, but other things arose. Ah well!

Nice catch, I am new to Texas and the forum. Is that unusual to catch white bass in the river this late in the season or is there a resident population in the Trinity? In Mississippi, white bass run up the rivers in the springtime to spawn and then head back down to the main lakes.

Resident population! Elm Fork is one of the true fishing treasures of north central Texas. Outstanding year round fishing from Lake Ray Roberts to Highway 183 in Irving.

I fished a little at the boat ramp in Coppell this evening and didn't get anything. Is that a good spot or is California Crossing better?

if you can get a boat and move upstream, and even float up into denton creek where it dumps into Elm Fork, it can be outstanding. It is VERY DEEP by that boat ramp but i have done way better upstream. Black bass, sandies, channels, even flatheads on rod and reel, blues, spotted bass. Great variety of fish

hit the area behind Haggar this morning, only got one, but it was a decent blue cat. Hit chicken liver. Also caught a soft shell turtle the size of a disc shaped UFO!

Admittedly slow, but a quality fish nonetheless.
