Not sure about your age...but if dad still has some say so about the truck I guessing he is still thinking safety. We inherited and old boat when I was younger and we used to beg my parents to let us take it out. There is a ton of responsibility there, and a lot can happen before you even get to the honey hole.
I agree with others, take dad with. Show him the truck pulls it fine. Show him you can back a trailer. Show that you are responsible on the water (life vests, rules, etc).
15 yrs later, I am now a dad and the water is scary place. There is a lot of clueless folks out there.
FYI if you need facts about towing, the bumper capacity is probably like 4000lbs and 400lbs at the tongue. If you can pick it up then you are probably okay. If you have the title of the boat, I think the specs are on there.
With a hitch the numbers probably double for towing capacity.

Ask your dad to go fishing with you, good opportunity to show him you know what your doing and nothing beats father son fishing together.
And that truck can pull that boat no problem. Best advice on this thread so far!!! I must agree don't go behind DADS back it will back fire on you.
Just pitch and Grind you never know when you are going to get LUCKY !!!!!!!!

That boat won't hurt that truck one bit. Show him the specs on the vehicle if you want, guarantee you they are well above the weight of that boat.
I tow a 21 foot Champion with a 4.9L V8 Dodge Ram. No problems at all, and that's a much heavier boat.

I'd get a heavy duty tranny cooler installed just in case.

With a hitch the numbers probably double for towing capacity. Plus 1.Also, go give your dad hug and tell him thanks for caring. Your lucky, alot of "dad's" want to be buddies not fathers.Sounds like yours cares about you. He's doing you a favor whether you realize it or not.Two young men on the water alone can get into big trouble very quickly. Get your dads trust first by proving you're experienced enough to handle any situation by yourself.

Is tghis legit? An aluminum boat behind a Truck potentially causing problems? HAHAHA! Only if you leave it in reverse while launching the boat!

As others have said, that truck can tow that boat without even noticing. I'm sure your dad has concerns about your safety hauling a boat around or being out on the boat without a parent around. Both of those are valid concerns. You'll understand one day.

Full size truck will easily pull that size aluminum boat.
Not a problem.
Good luck.

I know towing boats over a period of time use to wear on Transmissions. But, it is worth it.

You would barely notice that boat behind a full sized truck. I tow my buddies Pro Team 175 once in a while in my TX Edition GMC Sierra 5.3L and barely know it is there until I have to back it up. Maybe your Dad is worried that he won't get to spend time with you because you will be on the lake all the time in your buddies boat?

R U Kidding?! Back in the day, my dad and I towed a horse trailer w/ horse using a Subaru station wagon and had no issues, ever. What's really buggin' your dad? That's the question cause it ain't wear and tear on the truck.
