"look! A state record fish...I have to kill it!" - Sorry, I don't get it. I 100% support catch & eatin, but once in a while we need to just let the big ones be. Especially Alligator Gar, as any Gator Gar guide will tell you, a 300lb fish is probably as rare as it gets. I agree in a sense, but isn't it kinda hard for the bowfisherman to do a "live release"?

Very true, in that case..perhaps just don't shoot the bow.  Plenty of other fish to shoot, they saw several smaller ones (male) swimming with her that would have been just as tasty. Btw... Gar is good eaten. Boneless fillets, etc.
