I dont see what all the fuss is about, the young man was well within his legal means, no laws were broken, so he made the decicion to get a skin mount (im guessing here) insted of a replica? Congratulate the young man and move on.

Some people should be reminded that the true world record largemouth came from a fishery that is catch and kill only on largemouth bass. If you release everything back into a fishery you end up with skinny stunted fish. Ask any biologist or anyone that owns a small pond. Keeping that fish isn't going to hurt a thing.

It sounded to me that the fish ended up in the hands of the biologist at a hatchery. I don't see anything in that article that makes me think it ended up battered and fried.

It's his fish to do what he pleases with it.

I hate it when I see big fish like that die, and I would never intentinally kill a fish of that size, but I agree with some of the other guys here: the guy can do what he wants with his fish. He caught it legally. It's his property at that point.

Enough of the pissing matches. Everyone has their own opinions and you aren't going to change anyone'd mind on a forum.

I am liking this answer.
Idolizing a bass is just ridiculous.

I like that answer also, It was his to do with what he chose.

But everyone one has an opinion. Calling others stupid etc is pretty close to ignorant IMO. I have seen fish keeping cause small pond fisheries to pretty must become non existent. Not one or two fish but many fish as well as people snatching up all the bait fish putting them in buckets for fish stew or whatever make it nearly impossible to catch fish now in what was a great place to fish 5 years ago.

Some places are more highly pressured than others. I am sure this guy did not decimate the fish population there
