In my opinion, I don't think GOD put animals & fish on this planet to become a trophy on someones wall. For those that harvest for food, I have no problem with it. To kill something just so you can put it on the wall is a waste of wildlife.

Sometimes I think some people get so upset is that they think that is one big bass that they will never get a chance to catch. Its one fish, there are plenty more that if they are cautious and lucky enough will grow big. There just fish. They dont have feelings, they eat each other, they [censored] whenever the urge hits them. No bass has ever run into a burning building to save its master. A bass doesn't have any sympathy for you and personaly I don't have much sympathy for them.

Am I missing your credentials to be an expert on big bass and why him retaining that one fish would "impact" this river system?

I agree, what gives any of you Holey rollers the right to badmouth a guy for doing NOTHING against the law. It is TP&W's job to tell anglers what they can and cannot keep. Last I checked they had no problem with it. Get a life and quit acting like bass are gods. They are fish here for use do do whatever we want with them.

I see a bunch of guys trying to say, and do, what they consider to be "the right thing". And, it's working.

Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

I am liking this answer.
Idolizing a bass is just ridiculous.

I'm sorry, but I don't like that answer. The young man's service to this country has not one thing to do with this discussion. Now, those who know me are aware that I fully support our military, first responsers and LEO's. However, all too often these days folks are throwing service to one's country out there as a reason to give someone a break, or as a reason that person who served is beyond reproach. And I agree with giving them a helping hand where needed. We should all do so.

However, what the heck has military service got to do with anything as it relates to an angler retaining a fish he caught legally? And to the OP, get off your high horse!

I would say he earned the right to go fishing and keep a legal fish, and he protected that right for everyone.

Snowflakes and entitled brats will be the doom of America!

Yes, it is called entitlement. It's an attitude.

Ever since 9/11, it's become fashionable to "support our troops" to the point that I hear so much about it that I've become insensitive to the whole approach.

This isn't the first American generation to put on a uniform but some people act like it is.

I dont have a problem with guys keeping legal fish or even a trophy, its none of my business what they do with there catches legal fish dictated by rules on how many you can keep and size.

I just go by my rule, I catch a trophy, out of respect to this fish who has,I am sure over come a great deal of odds to reach that size, I just cannot be the one to end it for this fish who like I said over came a lot to make it to that size. Now if someone catches it next weekend and takes it home to mount or to eat well then that is there right and its cool. I know I did what I felt was right and that is all I needed to worry about.

Not familiar with this river but I bet people have been taking fish out of it since it was a river and there were people. After all these years of that it still sounds like a decent fishery with the ability to produce big fish. Dont think this one will change that. He is within the law and his rights to do so. Good for him.
