DaveRTX just posted this on another thread. Its the Lower Colorado River Authority Park at mouth of the Colorado River with access to about 25 miles of beach and surf. You could also find access to East Matagorda Bay for wade fishing. http://www.lcra.org/parks/developed_parks/matagorda.html

Matagorda beach is pretty hard to get down if you don't have a 4 wheel drive truck.

The LCRA has 3 piers there, 2 in the river and 1 in the gulf. Let us know how you make out.

I saw an aerial view of their surf pier that connects to one of the jetties. The water further up the beach was nice but very muddy near the jetties. Maybe its the current?
I emailed asking if there is a park entry fee. Will post when I get their reply.
No 4wd means I need to take a cute, young girl in bikini to get me towed out.

My family has been going to Goose Island State Park for vacation for over 40 years every sommer. That park is like my second home. If you want to catch abunch a trout on the pier at night, get some 1 1/2 bass assassions and 1/16 ou. jig heads and a light rod with 6 pound line. The trout will bite all night long on those. They are feeding on little glass minnows under the lights.
