What size line and how big of cranks are you throwing? 10# and dd22s can do that regardless of knot type.

Well I am afraid this new Fluorocarbon line may be the problem. I bought a roll of Vicious fluorocarbon at Walmart the other day that was bad right out of the package. Each time I would tie my knot and then pull test it, it would break. Put Trilene Big Game on my reel and problem solved.

I use a double improved clinch and have zero knot slippage. The key is to tighten by pulling the main line and tag end at the same time. Then pull your main line tight, and push the knot down tight to the split ring with your finger nail, then pull main line and tag end tight again. Cut the tag about 1/4-5/16" long, and you're good to go. I've always heard( from several pros as well) that the Palomar knot is hard on flouro. It is better to use a twist type knot rather than a knot that folds the line( such as the Palomar)

The problem was you bought vicious line.(thats walmarts brand right). Buy quality line, and those things rarely happen.

Feed the line through the eyelet, make a circle with the tag end, grab the line on the other side and wrap it 5 times. Wet it and pull the tag end until its cinched up.

This knot is also referred to as the "Fox knot" as John Fox tied it alot.

I use it almost exclusively and have for over 30 years, 0 problems with it unless you are using braid..

The only other knot I use is a double palomar for hand to hand combat.

Every now and then, i take the bait off and tie a fresh knot. Its helpful. I dont know if you are using the clinch or improved clinch but the improved is a much better knot. Good luck

Really???
Same knot I use as well. Except for braid.
