I've still yet to find one that will run straight with a single blade.

I've still yet to find one that will run straight with a single blade. You need to tune them , just like crank baits.

I like smaller size buzzbaits - will catch numbers and size. 1/8 oz. Booyah (calm water), 3/16 oz. Strike King Triwing (calm to small chop), and 1/4 oz. Lunker Lure (some but not large chop). Prefer white blades with citrus shad type colors.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I always bang by buzzbaits off of stuff, IMO if you are not hitting something with thtem you missed on your cast, so i fish mine like you do as it sounds. I used to let them run a little off so i could let them run into stuff like that, but i found that when they were running crooked they hung on small branches more, at least for me. so i aim my bait to come by and run into whatever, but with them running true.
