reaction bite plays huge part in cranking color comes second I have to disagree, take for example this past weekend tournament. I was on a good Squarebill bite for a week on a color that I'll call hot mustard (custom color). It's literally between chart and root beer just closer to root beer. Well the fish were just slapping at it. I changed from a brown back to a dark purple back and they started choking it. Exact same color minus the back color change. Color does play into it and always will. Why I keep 4 squarebills on my deck when I'm cranking shallow. It always gets narrowed to one though Color plays a huge part in it!!! That was my point in the original post! I think color is the most overlooked aspect of crankbait fishing. IMO the most overlooked aspect is the action a bait has. Just like a trap with noise no to cranks have the same wobble, deflection, buoyancy. That's why you can take 25 hand carved cranks and one will out perform the rest. I LOVE crankbaits and study the how and why of how they work and perform. To me there is no better bass catching lure out there.
I can backlash toilet paper.

I have seen articles on it though, I have never read an article that focused on the color of a crankbait and it's importance.

[/quote] You should see the variety of baits and colors I have in my boat Color is also very important with soft plastics a lot of the time. Some colors work well most of the time but you will find one the fish like the best on a certain day if you experiment with various colors.
