I just got my WaterTender 9.4 titled over to me but need a trolling motor, what sort of things do I need to look for in a motor? been looking at 30# thrust with a 30" shaft transom mount, will something like this fit the bill?

Where do you plan on using it?
If its small ponds and you are not going to put in at a "small cove at Lewisville" that trolling motor will be just fine.

Just measure the distance between where you mount it and where the motor will be fully underwater. You will need a bigger TM and two batteries to be safe on big water.

I would go with a 40lb Minnkota with the 36inch shaft. A 30lb would work but you would be happier with the 40lb.
If you can go bigger even do so. I never heard anyone say they wish they had gotten a smaller motor on a small boat like that.

I've got a Minn Kota 50 36" on mine. Gets you where you want to go quicker plus isn't affected by the wind as much.

Here is how I did my TM and graph so I could carry it at the same time. I bought the TM transducer bracket and installed it on the TM. I ran the hot wires for the fishfinder (I soldered connections) and the TM together so they hook up at the same time. Wrapped the whole thing with some quality black tape. I then screwed the fishfinder to a 2x6 board. Now I can grab the TM down by the motor and lift it and grab the FF and be done with it. This would work on any boat. There is enough wire to move the FF to the front of the boat but I never do that, mostly because all the guys I fish with can't read one anyway. haha.

nice setup, I have plenty of trnsducer cable as I have mine in a 26' fly bridge curiser "LOL"
I like taht setup so everything is easy to grab and go.
I have been looking at the minkota 50# and may go with that if I can figure out if it is a transom mount.
Thanks

Get two batterys if you plan to fish in lakes. One good one and then a cheap one in case the sh** hits the fan. I have been on the big lakes in my two man in the winter when traffic was light and it was skecthy. Be cautious and carry a flag and a horn, even close to shore they dont seem to notice or respect that you are there.
They make 55lb TM that mounts on the transom. If you plan to fish big waters and have more than one person in the boat. That might be the way to go...all about your budget.
FFM has a good set up on his Fish Finder. I would do that for sure.
