Roberts is fine, but why twice in the same year? Texoma is a lake that actually fishes big with 90,000 acres of water and none of the bigger bass tournaments are utilizing the lake...hmm

Brandon - it's called money, moolay, jenga, cashish....if they did one of their tourneys on Texoma that would be lucky to draw 100 boats where they have averaged just about 190 on Ray Bob since they started going there. I am also somewhat biased because Ray Bob is just a 40 min drive from my house but you also can't argue with the quality of it compared to those others right now. I know you know that just as well as anyone especially with you being "boys" with Barrett.

How do you figure? If Bass Champs was all about money than Lewisville would have never made a schedule and they would stop going to Belton... Nice try though

Payout more places. Makes people feel better breaking even.

I dont think paying out more places is the answer. I dont wanna get rewarded for not doing good. I would feel bad getting a niec pay day for 12 place when I know 11 other teams executed better then I.

I think maybe paying heavier at the front is the answer. Because lets be honest if you do not get 1st or 2nd its hard to make any money... expecially after the entire season.

If you have 200 boats and payout 20 places that is 10%.....That's pretty low.

Bossier City has better odds than that!

Do you like to break even when you go gamble at the casino? Most people would consider it a good day.

One person who wins considers it an AWESOME DAY!

I agree, I prefer a 1 in 7 payout, but 1 in 5 is also ok. If start going any further it is like getting an "honorable mention" ribbon at the 5th grade Science Fair.

Lewisville even drew about 160 boats per event because of it's location. And I hate that lake for obvious reasons but we still fished it. Texoma is not the answer - period. Chad and company will always go where they can draw the most boats. just like down in the East region...the reason they fish Rayburn over and over again is because whenever they went to T-Bend they "lost" 50+ boats every time. It's about money and should be...its a for profit business and they run the best trail in Texas. None of us fish any of these to pay our mortgages, so I want the best experience possible for my money and they provide it, regardless of the lake. We turn each tourney into guys weekend away and that's what its all about. So when you add in the chance to win $20K, it's the perfect scenario. You won't find me putting together a guy's weekend to go fish a 40 boat tourney to win $2K at the most. I have fished some of those but it was more out of convenience or pre-fishing, than anything else. Also, Champs does an extensive survey each year and that's another way they choose the lakes. So, I guess the majority would rather fish Ray Bob twice than plugging in another Cedar Creek or adding a Texoma.

I don't know anyone fishing Champs to make a living....it's a chance to get away and enjoy a weekend away from work for most folks (hence the off limits working mans trail).

Breaking even or making a 100 bucks makes people go home happy....not depressed. Happy people come back. Depressed people don't.

hmmmI thought tournament fishing was about catching fish... not playing your odds... I for one do not want to get rewarded for 35th place... 200 boats or not.

To each there own.

BUT money isn't easy to come by for most people with a family and kids. They like to bring home Moma a small check over a negative balance anyday.

Bass Champs = Working Man tournament.

Not Elites....

This was my first time to fish the central region with Bass Champs, It was my first time on these lakes as well. I chose this is because i wanted to fish with someone from north Texas and we could meet in the middle, This Last Event at Belton My trolling motor broke at our first stop and that ended it for us, We chose Bass Champs because I think it has some of the best fishermen going and a lot of these guys who fish it could and some may just do it, compete with anyone in the country.

The way the staff runs bass champs is awesome and they make sure that it is as fair as possible and they bend over backwards to make sure everyone has a great experience and we did very much. I like the tuff lakes like belton, I think it really levels the playing field even more and yes I got my tail handed to me this year but it just will make me work harder to compete regardless of the situation at hand but thats me.

No question about it, with gas and the cost of everything, money is tight for us all, 20,000 would be nice but I would like to see it moved down to 15,000 and add more spots with a opportunty to cash a check, It will help guys maybe stretch the money a bit further and enter more events, There is no shame at coming in 25th with the quailty of fihermen and lady's you compete with and with a opportuntity to spread the 5,000 down the line would get more folks the opportunity to put something back in the fishing budget instead of entering the first event and busting the budget there.

The lakes, I personel hope Central stays the same with the exception of Travis, It needs to have a workable ramp instead of launcing off a beach regardless if there is tow vehicles to pull you out or not.Thre are just so many lakes out there and to make a schedule with 4 regions with what is availble i bet is tough. At the End of the day, I bet Champs will do what ever they can to make sure they continue to run one of the very best tournament series going today, you cannot make everyone happy but they sure do a good job trying to do so. I look forward to the Championship and to the season next year.

I am blessed to have a opportunity to live a childhood dream as a professional wrestler

the biggest hurdle for the average weekend fishing team is that there are some that have never weighed 25 lbs. in a tournament in there life an it generally take more than that to win a bass champ event because of the quality of the teams that stay near the top of most of the tournaments they put on.if you really think about it an i am in agreement they put on a well run trail by the time you join pay 280.00 for the enrty an travel to a lake that is most of the time out of a average teams comfort zone pre fish 1 or 2 times you if you beat 200 other teams you bareley get your money back an if you damage your boat motor or tow vehicle you lose money not trying to rain on anybodys parade just another perspective .

When putting on a fishing tournament youre going to please some people, and piss off the rest. Bottom line is if you have the money then you will probably fish the tournament, if you dont have the extra cash to lose then you probably shouldnt be fishing anyway.

Tournament directors will never make every individual happy but i give them props for giving us their time and effort for running these things.

Bass Champs will go where they feel they will get the biggest turn outs. Ray Roberts, for some reason, always has more anglers. This is true not only in the bass tournaments but also crappie tournaments as well. Its just a proven fact. Maybe its about the money, or maybe its about getting the exposure and new members. I know on a personal level, bass champs has gained 6 new members this year between me and the five others i talked into fishing their tournament at Ray Roberts.

I dont care what lakes they go to, if you want to fish, you'll fish. If you dont, you wont. So I will just sit back and follow their rules and schedule and appreciate that I have the oppurtunity to fish such a well run tournament!
