When the local "jack potter" tries to explain why he zeroed on his home lake, "I wasn't fishing for points, I was going for the win".

I fished a tournament with a fella who claimed he "grew up fishing the lake".

I had never been on this particular lake, was a non-boater, looked forward to learning a few things, and with his claimed experience on this lake, catching a few fish.

After not getting a bite from the first two spots he took us to, he yanked the trolling motor up and exclaimed/asked me: "I give up! What do you think we should do now?

"Now thats what I'm talking about!" is getting old.

"All fisherman are liars except me and you, and I sometimes wonder about you."

"Fish are biting so good you have to hide behind a tree to bait your hook!"

Wind from the North don't venture forth

Wind from the South blows the bait in their mouth
Wind from the West the fishing's the best.
