Got out tonight and tried for some more lightning photos. Had to shoot from inside the truck due to wind, rain and lightning overhead

I like the first pictures in both sets taken, especially the first one. The lightning plus the sun going down is incredible.

Photo 1 F stop 6.3 ISO 200 Shutter Speed 30 sec
Photo 2 F stop 6.3 ISO 200 Shutter speed 30 sec
Photo 3 ISO 800 Shutter speed 20 sec F stop 6.3 Awesome ! I noticed when you attempt samething from area which is totally dark needs lot of work with external flash . Those are pretty impressive pictures . You should try throwing them together with little bit of photoshop edits using lighting brush give it little life

If you have an Iphone you can get the app called Videopix.. you record whay ever you want then open it in the app and it plays it frame by frame so you can get lightinig pics or anything fast moving. Not as clear as camera your using but can come in handy if your out and about without your good camera.
Just a little side note for you.
GOD BLESS AMERICA.

I've never been so happy for a thunder storm to show up. But I Didn't have much time to shoot because of the rain and lightning strikes getting too close.

That's nice one # camera on a tripod. # cable shutter release or set the remote # focus at infinity. Set the shutter speed to bulb 'B' (the shutter will stay open for as long as you hold it open). If you don't have this option, set the exposure time to the longest possible - realistically you need 10 to 30 seconds Set the aperture (F-stop) to between F2.8 and F5.6. Experiment a little with different settings and see where you get a good one. Frame the picture where the most lightning is occurring, or where the most spectacular clouds are. I recommend between 20 seconds and 2 minutes. You can have longer exposure times for higher F stops. yes a Wide angle lens will add more charm Wish there were such lightnings around here time to time.
