Awesome thread. Still waiting to get my first DI unit, but thanks for starting this so we can all learn more! Yes, this is an awesome thread for sure! Very helpful and makes me very jealous.

Well these threads, here and in the Bass section, made my mind up when my old Lowrance died. I went ahead and got a 798ci HD SI so I could see what everyone else is seeing! BigDozer66

Here is my first attempt. It was my first day using DI. I found a bunch of small crappie on this one.

This snap shot was taken on Lake Waco. My unit is a HB 798. This is a very popular spot that I always see someone fishing. This day I happen to get lucky and slid in while the other Crappie guys were napping. Wife and I had a blast reeling them in.

Went out this morning and decided to slow down and take a look at a lone stump out in the middle of the lake a marked several years ago. Thought I hit the mother load on crappie, but it was a ton of bait fish and several 10-15 lb blue cats. I know cause i caught 2 of them on my crappie gear before i decided to move on quite the fight.

I took this image last week. The left side shows a line submerged timber. The center column was full of baitfish. The tree on the bottom right was full of crappie. Dave

i totally agree with that ! we use a cheap hummingbird , a little common sense ......and a general knowledge of fish.....couple that with 3 or so times a week on the water .....bingo .....we target crappie .....and i have pictures ! LOL anybody here ever caught black crappie with a "racing" stripe .....or what we call a "mohawk" coloration ?
