this is really a newby question:
Say you have a HDS-8 on the dash and a HDS-7 on the trolling motor with the display on the bow. Both on the eithernet. What displays what ? Can you get the 7 (front one) to display on the 8 on the dash and vis versa ?. Or both on a split screen. How does having both on a buss work.? CD Guess nobody ever answered your question. If you want to run the external antenna for the HDS units then it runs through the nmea and if you want to run the digital guage set-up from the motor then you need the nmea. If you just want to tie the graphs together without an external antenna then you just use the ethernet.

Thankyou Grout-scott. I did hook up the LGC4000 on a Nmea buss. Sometimes seems to be working, other times not so much. I have a handheld that locks on a bunch of sats in like 50 seconds. The HDS takes a few minutes and sometimes like this morning it never did. When I have the ext ant is there some setup I have to do or does the HDS detect it automatically ? CD

Not sure Capt, I'm kinda thinking you might have to go into and change the antenna to something else. But to be honest I don't have a clue, I just use the internal antenna.

Grout-scott : Jason had a link on how to do it on page one. I tried it but when it gets to "select the LGC4000, mine does not display that option. I know I have it hooked up right and I'm getting voltage to the NMEA power node. It just does not display that optio9n. I'll PM Jason and maybe he can clear it up CD

I may be overthinking this, but... I have two separate gps modules for my two 1198s, connected with an ethernet cable with sharing enabled. Since the waypoints are tagged to the gps module that created them, when I want to download my waypoints from my units on the boat to a SD card,in order to keep my units from being overloaded with waypoints, should I have a separate card for each unit with labels as to which unit the download came from? In the reverse, if I want to transfer waypoints from a SD card to my units, in order not to overload the units with waypoints, again do i use a separate dedicated SD card for each unit, or just one SD card to upload separately to the two units?

Jason need a little help please. One of our three HDS 5's was working fine one minute and then the next minute it just turned itself off. It won't power back on. It is about 3 years old. What should we do?

talk to Lowrence telling me it's my module $360.02 it's 2 months out warranty.
Just talk to Larance again they told me try a soft reset .
Is there any way to test the module once I buy one they won't take it back if that's not the issue if it ends being a software issue I like to test it with a new module but I don't no any one that will do that I bought it 4-02-10 pretty sad I bought five units from these people

What would I need to hook up a HDS 5 head unit to the bow of my boat? I have a HDS 7 with structure scan on the console and wanted to hook the 5 up so I could use the structure scan from the bow.

Just a normal install and an ethernet cable running to the LSS1 box and you'll be able to see the down and side scans. They'll just be 20' or so behind you.

Just plug in a 15 ft ethernet cable into the Ls unit.

Ok. So I have an HDS5 without the LSS1/2. I See these screen shots all over the forum however mine dont look anything close to these. I have a crappy picture Dont ask me why but I like the green. Let me say I am upgrading from a Eagle that was made about 20 years ago. I have adjusted some settings but nothing major. Mostly did the colors and then everything else on mapping side trails waypoints etc. I turned on Fish ID so I know what i was looking at. Any help is appericated, as I am lost as a 4 year old with a new toy that i have had for 4 years. I mounted the transducer to an existing bracket that was the same.
