A chunk of Cichlid, as it were. Are they native to the Llano or introduced? These are native to most of the hill country drainage-all the way up to Brushy creek north of Austin. I think you might find the in the san gabriel as well. By the way that's a trophy catch if I have ever seen one... Les About Brushy creek, do you know any good fly patterns for that creek now? just wondering.

Introduced many years ago to the Texas Hill Country. Native only to the lower Rio Grande drainage, possibly as far north as the Nueces.
Yes, I have caught them in the Nueces between Uvalde and Camp Wood.

caught a lot on a carp tease and rio getters. also try a damsel nymph. where at on brushy are you fishing for them
