very true it is a small lake but its not bad the one thing that i dont like about it is that there is only one public area on the lake and when you are trying to get to the boat ramp people will not get out of the water so you can. do you suggest north or south side of the lake

Lots of dinks in Alvarado, but it holds some big ones too

There are alot of small ones. But the last time I was there my fishing partner caught a 5 pounder in the cat tails on the southside of the lake. It is a small lake but fun to fish on. As far as the public area near the dock i just idle in there if they move they move. If not, oh well. Will be there tomorrow morning

Go during the week to avoid too many idiots. I've had decent luck on the south side around some of the docks recently. The fish are pressured pretty hard so they usually make you work for it.

I "heard a rumor" that an 8.5 was caught at Alvarado this year.

Alvarado is great...I mean who doesn't love being followed around by two wiener dogs, a pit bull, two border collies (that LAY UNDER YOUR TRUCK while trying to pull out of the water!), and a boxer with teets that touch the ground, while you're trying to launch next to the 15 people swimming 6" off the ramp?. And the tire puncher road that leads in?? I mean come on!

I had some really good days out there earlier this year. Caught a 9.2 one day. My photobucket account will not let me in right now....
