J. D. What do you think of drumming the water? You know hitting the water with a old rod or oar. I've seen a lot of different people on TFF debate this, but nobody proves their point. Just curious always looking to find a edge.

During certain times of year I can prove it all the time...right now I can be on fish, then they will leave and after a few minutes beat the water with my whooping stick and within seconds the fish will pile back under me..

In the winter I have sat on inactive fish sitting right on the bottom and can't get a bite...then beat the water and on my graph watch them come off the the bottom and up onto the water column rite on my graph.

I do believe it works and have seen it work right on my graph many times... But like I have always said , fishing is a lot about confidence..if you have confidence in something whether it be a certain lure, or certain color or whatever , chances are it's gonna work.
Or at least ,so you would think ...lol

Thanks J.D. Just curious what the pros think about it. Roger swears by it as well.

I agree 100% on the confidence statement. Took me a while to figure that out, but time on the water helps. I hit Texoma today for the first time since November using live shad. Picked 1 or 2 here and there. Last spot got good fish. All overs. Ended with just 15, but quality fish. I use 20 lb fluorocarbon leader and a 2/0 Gamakatsu or eagle claw octopus hook, but that doesn't mean I'm done experimenting. Been crappie fishing for a long time now and the confidence applies as well. Was glad to hit Texoma again. I'm not threat to the big guns there like JD, but I had a game plan this morning and stuck to it. I don't chase guides and I prefer to keep my distance. I'm not saying I wasn't stupid in the past and getting caught up in the crowds. I keep my distance mostly for selfish reasons. You're not going to pull a school of feeding fish off 2-3 boats tied up. I like to get my own school going. Good luck
