I guess I just need to vent! One of my buddies knows that I am a avid fisherman and he is always talking about how many fish he can catch. So I invited him to go fishing with me yesterday. We leave the house at 5am and at that time he proceeds to tell me that he only got 3 hours of sleep the night before, didn't think much of it at the time. So when we get to the lake, he brings one rod and a tackle box with about 10 lures in it, so at this point I'm starting to laugh. The entire time we are out there he is either talking to his girlfriend on his iPhone or playing games on his iPhone. We fished up until lunch and he is still throwing the same lure as he started with and hasn't caught a da*n thing. We went back to the ramp to get a bite to eat, and he won't stop complaining about how tired he is. So at this point he asks if he can sleep in the truck until I'm ready to leave!! I thought he was kidding at first! So I go on and do my thing and I head back in at about 6pm or so and he's still asleep. He wakes up when I go get the truck to put the boat on the trailer and doesn't help me one bit! Last time I offer to take his lazy a$$ fishing again. Is it just me or am I making a big deal out of nothing?

thats pretty funny but it seems as if fishing is the last thing on his mind a quick turn on high with the trolling motor could have been very comical

Unforgivable. Sometimes you gotta eliminate fishing partners just like eliminating unproductive water....

I stay up every night before tournaments since I work nights and don't get home in time to get more than a hour of sleep. I have no problem staying awake to fish. Sounds to me like he isn't really into fishing.

I used to have a buddy that would want to go night fishing all the time. He wasnt a bad Fisherman, but he would go to sleep, and tell me to wake him when I got on a good school of fish. About the 3rd time he did that, I waited till he was good and snoring, and flipped a 5 lb'er in on his head. It was comical watching him and the Bass fighting for space down in the bottom of the boat.

I try to stick with the same 2 or 3 guys usually. We take turns using each others boats etc.

I will go with making a big deal out of nothing. You were out on the lake fishing. Most everyone else was at home or work wishing we were fishing.

I took a neighbor fishing once on a small lake you could only use an small aluminum boat on and a 10hp motor. He always said how great a fisherman he was so we were crappie fishing after a couple of hours he had not caught a thing he got a nibble he got real exitied. I told him to just leave his bait there and the fish would come back. Bout this time I got one on and was reeling it in when the next thing I knew we were in the lake. This dude who weighed probably 300lbs had stood up then fell turning the boat over. Never took him fishing again but did get a payback. Back when they didn't pay any attention to hp ratings I had a 15' Bomber with a 135 on it I took him a boat ride one day never heard anything more out of him about getting in a boat again.
