NOPE- I had a partner like that 3 days in a Big Bass Slash tourney, except I was in the backseat. He did alot of things but the worst was attempting to weigh an illegal fish infront of the warden after I asked him nicely not to do that to us... Since I had $$$ invested in the entry fee- I didn't bail untill lunch on the 3rd day-Told him I was going the the bathroom...He asked-Why do you need your rods and tackle to go to the bathroom? Threw'em in my truck and never looked back!
Simon Peter said to them "I am going fishing" They said "We are going fishing also." -JOHN 21:3

After I seen him with one rod that morning, at that time I would have offered to give him a ride......HOME!!
Fishin by yourself ain't all that bad....I like it. I'm particular on who I go out with, though. I go out for a good time, not to accommodate a whine-bag.

I find that story to be hilarious. Who asks to sleep in someone elses truck because they weren't prepared for a trip in which I assume was planned in advance? I can't imagine this guy would be too successful in his business life with the habits he displayed. I would have just laughed about it if I were you, though.
My Story: I returned from Afghanistan in December. During deployment, a buddy of mine always talked about fishing and hunting. We decide to go fishing for the first time together here recently and he turns to me and says, "Will you tie my knot"? He also brought his girlfriend with him who never fished a day in her life so my first fishing trip in years I spent baiting hooks, knots and taking fish off for them.

My first bass boat was a small bathtub type boat with stick steer. I invited a friend to go fishing with me one time and we met at the lake .... he showed up with his girlfriend, and she was about 400 lbs ... I am not lying! The boat was overloaded with her in it by herself, but we managed to catch a few fish and I was trolling along and brushed a stump .... you know what happened, we almost sunk before I could get us back to the ramp! Cracked the hull from front to back!

I've had some friends that were "Really in to fishing". You decide to take them out for a day and they show up with an 10' surf rod with 10lb test line on a spinning reel (which they hold upside down to reel) and a 4oz spoon tied onto it with a triple over-hand knot. They'll fish for an hour and if nothing's biting they're ready to go...yea...I know what you mean....been there.

had a guy with me who "loved to fish Fork" Finally took him out for the day. He never stopped talking about past experiences at Fork----but rarely had his lure in the water- he couldnt talk and fish at the same time-then started bitching about why he wasnt catching anything. Swear to god I made 20 casts to his one. Every time I see him again he's anxious to go again---AINT HAPENING!

I swear I think all these stories are hillarious sounds like when I take my brother fishing if they ain't biting he doesn't want any part of it but I think we have all had partners we didn't like fishing with but it's always nice to have someone else in the boat with ya for safety reasons

Sure am glad that when I went bass fishing with my friend the first time, years and years ago, that he didnt think like some of you when I showed up with my 1 rod and tackle box.
Now, I've got more rods than I have a place for, won tourney's with fields over 100+ teams, and on my 4th bass boat.

Yea, my brother in law kept bugging me about taking him fishing so I finally said ok. He shows up 45 minutes late, had cologne on like he was going on a date and a sack with apples oranges and bananas. When he got there he said "sorry im late but I stopped off at the store to get this fruit, and do you want anything?"
I said no, I don't want a fruit salad, I want to go fish and now since you are 45 minutes late, we will miss the morning top water bite. He never went with me again after that.
Had another guy that kept telling me what a hot shot he was on Ray Roberts and he could show me some stuff. I picked him up and we are on the way when he says he needs to stop at Cabelas. It was on the way so I say ok. Well that was over an hour wasted because he could have gone there before the day of the trip since he lives close to there. We get to the lake and he knows 2 spots. Can you believe that "2" spots. He is constantly on the phone. One of the two spots he tells me is a good cove because it is usually out of the wind and a good place to take a nap. "TAKE A NAP???" Are you kidding me? I came to fish, not sleep in the boat. We never went again.

Me and a friend on mine skipped school to go fishing. It started to rain a little so he said he was going to sleep in the truck. Oh we were bank fishing.. I started catching fishing but I did not go and wake him up...I bet I caught 10 to 15 bass that morning in the rain..after the rain stopped he started fishing but he did not catch a fish.. I love fishing in the rain during the summer

I am always glad to hear the stories of "new" anglers coming into the sport. I know it is anoying to head out on the water with someone who has now clue. But sometimes you need to take that day to teach rather than trying to catch fish yourself. I often find more pleasure in putting someone who doesn't know how to fish, whether they think they do or not, on the fish than catching fish myself. Use it as an opportunity, don't let it drag your day down!
