Hi Jason - Can I connect this external GPS antenna from my old Lowrance Globalmap 2000 to my HDS-8? I have the HDS-8 in my center console (skeeter SK2000) and it takes forever to lock on. The 2000 locked on in like 90 seconds. CD Im not an expert like Jason on lowrance, but im gonna jump out there a atleast recommend the 4000 if you wanna go external

Hi Jason - I need some technical help. Here is a drawing looking at the connector pins on the GPS rcvr cable. The tag on the back of the rcvr says 7871162. I think its a LGC-4000. I need to know which pins go to where on the HDS-8. Hope you can help. CD

You cannot connect a gps ant directly into the HDS unit.. You need add the nmea 2000 net work and then connect the ext. gps ant like the LCG 4000 to that. take look at one of the first post that I made on this section and you will see a nmea net work back system.

Got my new system tonight. I was fooling around with the simulator but can't do structure scan in simulator, do I have to have it hooked up to structure scan to use simulator and see structur scan?

You have to make sure the option for structure scan playback is turned on in the advanced menu. I think when I set my graph up there were a couple different options in the (either) wizard set up or it was the advanced menu. Can't remember, been too long. But I do remember it isn't the easiest thing in the world to get into si/di simulator, I have to jack with mine for a few minutes before I usually figure it out. And I know the menus pretty freaking good. Have you taken her out yet for her maiden voyage? If so, what did you think?

Not yet, going tomorrow. I followed the directions for setting it up on a HDS1 but I don't have the same options as that on my HDS2

Splint, I'll go out tomorrow and see how to get mine there. But it seems like you go into simulator (lss has to be on, btw) then there is a view option that you change in one of the menus. I just can't remember right now but I do remember it's one of the most complicated options to do.
