The dry fly is the only serious way to pursue any game fish on the fly, in the tradition of James ogden, who first used the split wing dry in the 1840"s. So, anyone who uses foreign substances such as deer hair, or plastic is just not a purist.
(just joking) my personal best on LMF was caught on an orange 1/100 oz. jig FLY!!!!!I ain't no purist-p-

Real fly fisherman know that Tenkara is the only sporting way to fly fish. Who needs a reel!
