We're primarily going to camp and bank fish, but I would like to set her out in my Cuda in a safe cove. Does anyone have a good idea of a good place to camp with a young girl. I normally camp very rural, and I'm sure she wont dig that much.

like the man says...if you're swimming in the ocean and get bitten by a shark, its not a shark attack. You're in THEIR neighborhood. If you're at home in your shower, turn around and a shark is in there with you...THAT'S a shark attack

Mineral Wells SP, Meridian SP, Cleburne SP, Purtis Creek SP, Eisenhauer SP. Bob Sandlin SP, Tyler SP... Lots of other good ones
Meridian's my personal favorite, with Mineral Wells and Tyler a close second...

Forgot to mention, I live in Plano. I think Purtis would be perfect.

Purtis' fishing hasn't been great since they put grass carp in A few weeks ago they held a tournament to get them out as best they could. Tyler's a great park and not much further than Purtis and is an all around good time. I grew up across the road from Bob Sandlin, great park but Sandlin can be a BEAST if the wind even thinks about blowing... and the park is on the north shore of the lake too.

Yeah, I have some tough times at Purtis myself. I'm looking at Meridian and Tyler now as well. Purtis does have those piers to fish from.

Tyler's got 3 as well. And if you need another boat let me know, I can run one out to you.

Tyler is awesome. Its really clean and the water is pretty clear. Its also a nice park. Plus I have caught some decent sized bass there.
Purtis is not good for swimming and the fishing wasnt great when I was there.

Hmmm... Tyler looks interesting, but I'm northwest of FW, so it's a hike. If I ever make it out to Mill Creek I might have to continue on try that one as well.
Has anyone fished Mineral Wells lately? Looks like Meridian's not too far away as well. Those are the size of lake I tend to like to paddle and fish.
Any other family friendly (i.e., facilities included) fishing/paddling recommendations on the west side of the metroplex?

Hands down, Tyler State Park, nothing like it in Texas, great to learn to kayak, fish and swim. BUT..... Don't tell anyone we don't want them camping and fishing here.

Sounds like Tyler. I need to try a new spot and this sounds great.

Sounds like Tyler. I need to try a new spot and this sounds great. Bonham State Park is nice also. No big boats and is fairly well protected from the wind most of the time.

I like fort Parker. Haven't been there since I started yaking, might have to make a weekend of it some time.
