How did he try to get away with it with a co-angler in the boat? And, how did he not see it done? I see now.

Lead is a metal, and a quick google search returns several units that can find lead.

If it is not a metal....what is it?

I dont believe a fish with a weight that size would be effectly feeding. Also, if that did happen some how, that would be when the lie detector would be used.

OK - I'll rephrase my question.

Lead is not generally recognized as a metal. Standard metal detectors do not detect lead.

After I did some research, I do see where there are plenty of metal detectors that do detect lead.

There's other things you can shove down a fish's throat than metal weights. I'd hate to see bass tourney's go the way of TSA where everyone has to be wanded and walk through metal detectors or given the ol' reach around. There's no way to stop all cheaters so just need to make an example of the ones who are caught as a deterant.

I'm thinking that much lead would eventually kill it.

I've never had an 11 oz to one pound weight on my boat. My weights go from a one ounce Carolina rig sinker straight to my anchor.
