I went to high school in Cedar Hill in the middle '60s'(long time ago) and saw several corals while fishinig the stock tanks on the old Magic Valley Ranch. One was so long; over 4' that I cut some of his tail off to take home to make sure it was a coral. I didn't kill it, I just stepped on it's head and cut a little of the tail off. He never even tried to bite me.
For the most part coral's are pretty calm snakes.

Red touch yellow, will kill a fellow.
Red touch black, a friend of Jack.

This is what my mother taught me 40 plus years ago regarding kings and coral snakes.

All these years in the woods and on creeks I've never seen either a coral nor a king snake.

But I know if Red touches yellow, will kill a fellow.

Back packing in the Gila, I came across a red touch black snake. Very cool looking snake. I also came across a green snake that had rattles, I saw it, thought garter snake, walked on by it on the trail, it rattled. Made all the hairs on neck stand up and I jumped and took off.

healthy respect for snakes.

Kicking this up because tonight my wife and I were driving around the Cedar Hill State Park and right where the road dead ends and you turn left to go to the bike trail they just installed a new culvert. As we were driving back out I saw one and jumped out to get a picture, this was about 8:15 tonight and it was about a 20 Coral snake. I kept repeating red touch yellow yup its a Coral Snake. Still excited because its the first one Ive ever seen in person and pretty interesting that it was within 20 feet of where I saw a rattlesnake trying to cross to the lake during the summer last year. Stupid phone didnt get to the camera fast enough and I didnt get a pic.
