I always use custom rods. I get exactly what I want.

Back in the early 90's I used Abu Garcia and Berkley alot, I enjoyed the Spiderwire rod when it first came out as well. I have since changed to more expensive rods and still catch the same amount of fish...Go figure. I think I was a better fisherman back then as well.

Shakespeare, Castaway, Fenwick- Loaded with Abu 5500's- The older Aademy brand"Tournament Choice"rods you used to get free with a decent reel were good rods, now they're junky.

I've never owned yellow, orange or white rods. My favorite still is an old Browning I thinks it's IMX (7' heavy) or something like that. About 25 yrs old and still most sensitive rod I own. I set 3 PBs two weeks ago (all in one week) with that rod. Well almost. Sandwiched a 9-5 between an 8-4 and 8-7. On two different lakes a few days apart.

I buy kistler now.

Owned nothing but Falcon Caras, Originals, and Lowriders for the longest. Ever since I tried a Duckett I haven't looked back. Ducketts are legitimate and in my opinion a lot more sensitive than most of the Cara line-up. The Falcon Cara AOY and Amistad are probably the only ones worth keeping.

I've got 2 phoenix boron rods that I love. they are dark brown and dark gray. I've had them for 20 plus years and use them for everything. my buddy bought a big berkley flipping stick at a garage sale 20 years ago for 5 bucks. I traded him for a left-handed bait caster I got somewhere. I hauled it around for many years before I even used it. It was telescopic. I used it this spring, flipping bushes and really liked it. I busted it in a bush . I think it had a nick in it. I'm going to get another big flipping stick when the opportunity presents itself. I guess I'm like a lot of old farts. I don't like those bright colored ones.
