The stretch of the Brazos River That I fish most frequently is one of those places that you never know what you might catch. I have learned to take gear for multiple species and adapt once I am on the water and figure out how the day is going to go. Started out Saturday fishing a topwater plug in hopes of some big explosions.Nada. I found a spot where swallows were building there nests on the side of a cliff over hanging the river. Gotta be some flippered friends hanging out there right?  Caught several nice crappie in that spot along with a few whites. Then I noticed these guys climbing the cliff walls to get at the birds Im guessing.  Started the 4 mile paddle back up river and stopped to fish a school of whites when I get taken for a ride! I know right away that what is on the other end of my line is the often overlooked common carp. I love hooking up with these big guys! A truly strong fish.  All in all, a great day on the river but so is any other day I can get out there! More pics to follow.

Awesome report! I bet that carp was fun reeling in. I need to fish the river sometime. I've haven't paddled a river yet. Where do you put in at?
