Not a rip off or scam. You do not pay any interest. But they do, at first, "authorize" two payments (like said above) then once it is authorized, they refund one of them. Like above, I used it a couple of years ago to to get a fish finder, and a friend of mine just used it to get a new trolling motor. It's basically like layaway, you just get the items now instead of after you have paid for them (as with layaway).

One good rule of thumb is to never finance anything that will not be around when you pay off the debt--like hooks and weights.

I dont even think six pay special is going on right now they only run it every now and again. By the time it comes around you should have enough to buy what you want with cash.

I'd only do that on something like graphs or a PP. If you do, like jPost said, pay it off in time or earlier!

Do not go into debt for fishing tackle. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. Get what you need for 100bucks and pick up more stuff as you go along.

That seems about as crazy as financing a new boat for either 10 or 12 years for a lower payment.

Seriously, you don't need fishing tackle that bad...save up and get it when you have the money.

The only things you need to win tournaments or catch the biggest fish swimming in the lake for the next 5 months is a bag of 10" Green Pumpkin powerworms, some bullet weights, 5/0 owner offset hooks, and a 3/4 FF Shad in Citrus. No sense in spending a ton of money on tackle. All that costs about $23 dollars at Academy.

You don't wan't to jeopordize your credit for fishing tackle.

Keep it simple over the next few months and you'll save alot of money and catch more fish.

The six months to pay is NOT a scam. But what you have to remember, it works only if you have a zero balance to begin with. It is setup to charge a months payment, you make the payment, then next month another charge. But if you have a balance, they charge, you pay, and the credit card company applies the payment to the lowest interest rate balance on your card. If you have a 7% balance transfer, and your normal rate is 13%, the payment for the six months to pay is applied to the 7% and the six months ofcharges to your 13% balance.

Unless there is a rod and reel in your wish list, $350 is a lot of money to spend on tackle. Most of us have $1,000 worth of tackle that never sees the light of day. We end up fishing the same thing and replenishing that bait when needed. My advice is add a little at a time. Keep your fishing simple.

Lol yea dave ramseys plan works he wants you to drive a 2000 dollar car but yet he wont care if you have a 5-10,000 dollar boat... that makes sense...

P.S. I will never finance anything but a vehicle, boat, or house...

I would never finance tackle... you probably wouldn't use $350 worth anyway.
