How many rods do you need to fish a tourny and be serious about winning ??

A real quick note and how I've argued this to my gfs you need a rod for every situation and usually 2 of each (my preference to save time). That being said if I'm serious about the tournament I'm in I only have 4 rods on deck. Explain the cost of a combo to the money at stake, they either get it or they don't either way, you need a decent selection. Also, in the rush of a tourney is where you'll break a rod so a back up is a must.

What answer do you need to prove the wife wrong? I am sure I could agree with it.

BTW: You only need one rod and reel. Yiou can only fish with one at a time anyways.

I voted 3-5, but that's more for prefishing convenience than during the tournament. Once I find my fish I usually only use one or two all day

I know you can only throw 1 at a time but your not gonna throw an a-rig on a 7'2 and your not going to throwing a shaky head on a 7'6. Thats my point. I think you need 5-6. Crank, Worm, Jig, Spinner / Square bill and a top water / swim jig. Thats all I throw so if I knew how to drop shot or shaky then maybe I would need more but she just can't understand 2 poles in a tourny doesn't work.

I've been married for almost 13 years and one thing I've learned is that you aren't going to prove anything to your wife. It doesn't matter if you present the best argument, supported by absolute facts; you can't win.

My partner and I have won a few times with only one or two poles...once you are confident in something, keep working it and keep your bait wet.

My wife and I have been married 34yrs and I don't think she has ever asked or commented on all the rods , other then the comment that it looks disorganized in the garage. But if she ever did I would just say I only have 4 pairs of shoes. LOL
