Toledo tackle was the brand we used back in the day, my pops used to buy them for 6 bucks a pound

wow I don't see anybody use 'em anymore, I keep a sack of the Bass Pro brand of 5" grape/fire hook tail...and when times are tuff and I break one out if I have a partner they usually crack - "now that's Old School "...lol, but there are day's that the fish will eat 'em...

This is one of very few baits that my ole man has thrown his entire life. When nobody else catches fish dad always will with this worm.

Not that they won't catch fish now, because they will. But, the main reason they were so good 20-30 years ago is that many of our lakes had lots of Oak trees in them when they filled. This caused the water to be Tannic Acid (Coffee Colored Clear) water. That made this particular combination deadly.

Back in the 'ol days my husband and his friend, John, threw the Creme worms...have looked for the purple and firetail but could never find the "originals."

Yes ,but with curly tail. After looking hi- n- lo I found out there called Manns Jelly Wigglers worms,but no chance of finding them.

+100! my 1st tackle box consisted of a handful of rusty true turn hooks, a couple worm weights and a bunch of fire tail worms, which were all "borrowed" from my pops!!!!

My Dad still throws a worm like that in "Tequila Sunrise" color and catches a LOT of fish.
