You can stop most jumps by moving your rod tip close to the water. In a kayak, just be sure to hold your rod low to the water and reel faster. That should stop most of the jumping. Other than that, set the hook good and keep the line tight. Good luck!

That is so true, and that is why TV and video fishermen usually let the fish jump.

New dont mean sharp.
Most spinnerbait hooks are thick, use fine hook file
test by draging across thumb nail, if it slides
without digging in not sharp enough.

Donald don't feel bad. If I had a nickel for every time I've heard someone complain about not getting the hook set and then figuring out they were fishing the bait with the little hook protector tube still on it. Those baits you buy unpackaged will usually have that little piece of clear tubing over the hook point so a customer doesn't impale themselves in the store.

Warning: Talon Lures does NOT put the little tube thingy on our hooks! (they're all packaged) LOL
