I've used PowerPro for years on spinning and level-wind reels.
Works well on open-face spinning reels but be sure you close the bail by hand after casting and check for loops across the spool.

Lots of data on Bass eyesight. They see about 4x better than humans. WE THINK, go look up the papers, read them... There is STILL a lot of assumption (and you know what they say about a$$-u-me-ing) to be made. I'm a grad student, the FIRST thing they DRILL into you is READ IT YOURSELF, and MAKE YOUR OWN CONCUSION. For example how do you seperate out the other ways bass perceive somthing, lateral line, smell... How does water clairty factor in to a bass compared to us? Do they see more like a Deer in perifreal vision or more like a cat. Their eys are more on the side of their head. AND THEN you have the question of just because you say they can perceive light better than a human how do they act on the stimulus they are given? or do they? Just because you SEE somthing doesn't mean you notice it. Take anyting you read with a little salt, don't just be a consumer of what the infamous "they" give you

I'm an older bass fisherman and I grew up all of my life throwing mono. Braid was taboo because it could be seen so easily. Now w/the emergence of fluro and copolymers I can use either but still can't bring myself to use the braid. Is the line so different now or has it just finally been accepted w/the new brands and styles on the market.Like spider wire... I could never use the stuff.Maybe I'm just so old fashioned that I can't see the forest for the trees.OPINIONS AND HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. powdr I use it for topwater fishing only. Like others have said, it does have it's place.

I use braid on my spinning set-up. I also have a 12' leader. I use a blood knot and don't like to re-tie. I fish a drop shot or a shaky head. I have 30lb braid and 10 lb floro leader.
you know, nothing wrong with seven men who met on the internet going for a swim together

I am 70,been bassfishing from 5 yrs to present.Use nothing but braid.Just got back for a month on amistad, had great luck.Use 12 lb on small spinning rigs.30to 50 on other spinning reels and baitcasters as well.Personally I don't think a bass sits in the brush or grass and thinks to itself hey that bait has a line on it.This farse comes from tackle salesmen like KVD,Roland martin,Bill Dance and so forth. So keep on buying new tackle, new line, fill your campartments up on the boat, show off those 60,000 dollar boats and keep basspro shop flurishing.Me,I will stick to braid and be well pleased.Happy trails. I like his guy... we should go fish'n

Fish can learn from being caught so FZ1 ain't taking no chances. Only time I use braid is for froggin'. FZ1 don't fish no CR,but can see using Braid main line with a long FC leader.

Well catslayer, obviously you have not done a side by side on the water comparison using braid vs a non braided line using the same bait and a similar line diameter with the braid and non braid. I have done a test several times and always caught more fish with the non braid. You said you are a grad student and you were taught to READ IT YOURSELF and MAKE YOUR OWN CONCLUSION. Well I did not just read about it, I tested it on the water. I also did not say that you can't catch fish using braid, I have caught a lot of bass on a super fluke fished weightless tied directly to braid. Ask any guide on lake Fork and see what they have to say. They have clients using braid and and non braid on the same day and they will tell you that the ones not using braid catch more fish most of the time. You went on and on about the visual aspect of braided line and I never said anything about getting less bites because they can "see" the line. I don't think it is a visual thing because if it was they surely would not bite an A rig. Sure there are times that someone that is using braid will out fish someone that is not using braid but that happens less often than the other way around. I have no idea why that is and have no intention of sitting around trying to figure out why a fish with its "pea brain" sometimes will not bite a bait that is tied on with braid. So next time Mr.catslayer do a real life on the water honest test instead of just making assumptions based on something you read somewhere or trying to analyze if they see like a deer, or like a fish or if they see something but don't notice it. BTW most swim baits, Large swim baits are NOT being thrown mostly on braid. Most are thrown on 25-30 pound test monofilament or co-polymer lines. Those heavy baits tend to "snap" off when tied directly with braid. Mono and copolymer lines will stretch and are more forgiving. So there you have it, college boy, time to do more studying.

The problem I have with fluorocarbon is I have trouble with backlashing when using it on my level-wind reels.
I've tried 2-3 different kinds of fluorocarbon and like Seaguar Invizx the best.
For instance - just recently tried both 10# and 15# Invizx on my crankbait outfit - a 7ft Browning Silaflex David Fritts Crankin Special E-glass rod with a well used properly adjusted and oiled 5500C3.
Casting a KVD 2.5 square-bill with the 15# Invizx caused problems in short order. Wasn't even trying to cast into the wind. Had tried the 10# previously with similiar results.
I'm wondering if maybe the old 5500C3 isn't up to casting the fluorocarbon or if there's something else causing the problems.
Any suggestions?

Joe do you still use a leader? I know on your vids you used too Absolutely, the only exception is when I am in real thick vegetation or I am willing to sacrifice visibility in gnarly bushes because I will have to really horse the fish out. One of my personal best 10lbrs though was buried down in a bush and I had the leader on. I had to horse her out cause she was stuck, so I know it will handle big fish.

Well, excuse me then...
Question though, if everyone is recommending throwing A-rigs with braid, why would the same not be true for swimbaits?
