Man I'm on the fence, but
My mind tells me it's a hibbie. I got a pic from Twak, that this fish has almost no broken lines, but it's prob 23 24 inches.Maybe I can get Austin to post it for me. I got too looking at it, and gotta say it looks
More like a sandie than this fish.

This one has one tooth patch (white bass), but also has stripes istinct, several extend to tail (hybrid), not broken (striper), body slender, less than 1/3 length (striper).

It is a White-Hybrid-Sriper bass.

Sweet intro brotha! cheers

.

Only way a sandie could weigh in at six is if it was a she was
a really big specimen and she was heavily laden with eggs.

This one's a wiper for sure --

What do you mean? To me the fish has the same build as the two right next to it. I'm still not convinced either way.

The head, body and shape tell it all.. thats a hybrid.. but to be sure take it to TPW and get a DNA sample if you think it is a record whitebass...

Wow I agree! The only feature to me that appears "hybrid" like is the shear size. Definitely worth questioning!

Can someone please explain what is different in the head, body, and shape of this fish that tells you it's a hybrid. I just don't see any difference in the three fish pictured except for it's size. I want to say hybrid also because of it's size but that's all I can base it on.

Hybrid. The tooth patch is elongated and you can see the split down the middle of the patch. On a sandbass that patch is NOT elongated - more of a blunt, rounded triangle in shape.

The body shape of that hybrid is the same dimensions more or less as the smaller sandbass next to it. A truly big sandbass will be much 'taller' or deeper in its build. As an anology, a big sandbass will have a build closer to a black drum, where a big hybrid will have a build closer to a redfish.

The external thing that I spot on big sandbass (or small hybrids) is the eye. The eyes of a sandbass are somewhat bigger proportionally to its body size than those of a hybrid.

I vote for sandbass, but it is a close call. The tooth patch without a doubt says it's a sandbass, but the body looks a little bit more like hybrid or even a striper.

Look at it from this angle (compared to a clear hybrid):

I think its body could "appear" to be a hybrid precisely because it's such a huge sandbass. It definitely isn't as fat as a typical hybrid. If it's a hybrid, it's a skinny one.

All I know is if I caught that fish and it was 12" instead of 22 or whatever, I wouldn't have thought twice about putting it on my stringer.
