Not too bad since you are going south. Most traffic will be going north.

I would hit I35 West instead of coming through SA. You are taking a less traveled road on 16 with little towns to slow down for. 35 to Laredo then south... Much better travel time and conditions. Good luck

I would not go 16, head south to laredo on 35 then to zapata at the border, much better in my opinion. too many horror stories on 16. The trucks have it messed up pretty good.

I would take I-10 to San Antonio and stay on I-10 thru town to I-35. The traffic will be headed the other direction that time of day. There will be some traffic on i-35 coming south out of downtown but nothing compared to 1604 or traffic headed north bound.
I live in San Antonio by the way.
Good luck!

I went through Laredo a month ago and the construction was terrible! Hwy 16 is much better.

I would avoid 16 to Zapata also. I have heard some horror stories. I would take to I-10 all the way to 35-S to Laredo. I agree with MSC you will be going against the grain of traffic at that time.

I am sure that we have all cleared it up for you now. James at Falcon Lake Tackle told me that he had seen some boats that had traveled down 16 that he couldn't even figure out what make they were due to all the dirt, mud and grime that is on that road.
