Motor wouldn't even start after I got back from him; it's now at another mechanic.
Also; despite me taking the boat cover to him he didn't cover the boat in that last storm (with all tornados). Completely soaked every bit of deck, will probably end up having to replace some of it.
Asked Dennis for a $100 refund as that is what the new mechanic is charging to go through the motor ($90 actually), still haven't seen that money. The place he works from is a house and the backyard stinks to high heaven and is a mess. Just stating the facts here.

Still no refund, guess it's not coming.

Wow. Just saw Mike at Discount Marine regarding my boat, turns out one issue was the last mechanic somehow displaced the linkage from the choke handle to a slot it's supposed to move in, no wonder the choke didn't work/motor wouldn't run. Also; easy fix on issue with throttle which as 'fixed' before. I had a box of parts from the previous owner who told me the missing part is in there, current mechanic found the part in less than 10 seconds where first mechanic said he didn't need the part; just did a little 'machining' to 'make it work'. Gonna end up paying less than half for the current mechanic to fix the original issues. Guys; if you are in the area see Mike at Discount Marine in Arlington.

I bought 2 dobyns rods from rippnlips. He shipped them in a plastic tube that is super sturdy and he secured the tips so that they didn't break. The rods were in excellent shape and his asking price was unbelievable. A super seller who takes care of his equipment.

Regarding Buzzards Breath and his dealings with the Boat Whisperer.

I know Dennis the Boat Whisperer. I'm not a mechanic, just a boat owner and a customer. I was there when Buzzard Breath dropped off his boat. I was also there checking on my boat when BB came back and was highly irate, actually obnoxious, that his boat got wet during the tornados that hit the area. He did have a cover rolled up in his boat but Dennis didn't think to cover it, or any other boats when the storms hit. No big deal that my boat got wet. It's been wet before and I expect that it will get wet again. Dennis apologized. I wouldn't have. Heck, it's a boat and the storm was pretty rough. If the floor rots from getting wet and has to be replaced, it was already a pretty sick floor.

Dennis told me about the request for a refund. It seems that BB couldn't start his boat when it got to the lake. It did start and run in a tub at the shop. Anyway Dennis asked what the other mechanic had done. BB wouldn't say or didn't respond to that PM. Then Dennis asked for a copy of the $90.00 bill so he could see what was done. He indicated that he would be glad to pay for it if he made a mistake. Dennis is still waiting. If BB refuses to say what another mechanic had to do to correct a mistake or send a copy of the $90 invoice I wouldn't give a refund either.

I recently went with Dennis to Amon Carter Lake in Montague County on a warranty call. It's about a 75 mile drive. I have property there and needed to check on my place anyway. Dennis sold an engine and gave a 6 month warranty. When we arrived Dennis checked everything and found that nothing was wrong with the motor he sold, It was a "user error" regarding the ignition switch. Dennis fixed the problem and said "no charge". Not many mechanics would have done that. BTW, the warranty period had already expired.

It sounds like the guy is saying "I had problems. Send me $100.00." This stuff from Buzzard breath is, IMO, a bunch of BS.
