New to the area still and trying to find out if there is any bank fishing being done on Somerville now for whites, wipers, or crappie or is it more boat season. They shut the gates down so I'm trying to find other places to fish instead of just the marinas. If so, don't need your honey hole just general areas will suffice as I'm willing to go search myself. I've been to Birch Creek and Welsh but nothing was happening there.

Kirby12, Now is the time of the year I'll start wade fishing early and late. More often then not I'll use my kayak to get to a particular stretch of shoreline get out and wade fish from there. Wet wading in the early morning hours for whitebass can be done in many places like Rocky creek. Welch park can be good until well after sun up or as long as the shad stay shallow because that's what the fish are after. Cloudy mornings will extend the morning bite but when the sun hits the water the shad usually go deep and the fish follow.. Sometimes catfish will patrol the shoreline long after the shad have moved deep and other predator fish followed.
Crappie should be returning to deeper water but by this time of the year I've switched to chasing bass more then crappie.

Fishing has been good in the spillway but it get pretty crowded. Now that the lake is near normal we might get back into the Yegua @ Newmans Bottom for some kayak bass fishing. I'm probably going to Bastrop Saturday to kayak the river or maybe stay at the house and build a new fishin' yak.

I've got a trip to the Guad on my mind for some river fishing. I want to go during the week to avoid the crowds and get at some undisturbed trout and bass with the fly..

Any places the white bass might be biting this weekend?
Might have to head out on the lake in the Kayak.

Haven't gone since last month, but may I suggest the big submerge hill next to the island seen not to far from rocky creek.Catch some ghost minnow and fish where the drop off meets the shallow edge. They were slaughtering the whites last time I was out there.Move around the submerged hump/hill until you start catching them.Boats are always there and will help give you a hint where they are biting.Trolling with pet spoon in that same area is also an option. You can easily paddle to that hill in very little time.I fish there with my kayak last time and caught a bunch trolling with pet spoons.Wish I had some ghost minnow though.Need a depth finder to find that hill.Mark with marker buoys once you find the fish. That spot is my best bet.Good luck and bring back a report.I am going to Livingston this week end.The whites and stripers are all over the lake. Two weeks ago I hit the first spot and where pulling whites and stripers as fast as my hell-bender/pet spoons can reach the bottom.

Good info. Also the East end of the big underwater hump almost due North of Rocky (1/2 mile or so). Water depth 7-12 ft. Can use Medium size/or Ghost minnows. Have a line out with live bait, and cast with Traps as the schools pass by. WB, Cats, and Hybrids. Oddly enough there is one stump out there and I've caught it several times. It is about 45 yds from the right (East) side ledge before the drop-off. I'll be at Livingston myself this wkend.

I've got a trip to the Guad on my mind for some river fishing. I want to go during the week to avoid the crowds and get at some undisturbed trout and bass with the fly.. I used to do that below Canyon Lake many moons ago.We would start with corn on spinning rods at the tailrace, then wade/swim with our flyrods downstream a ways. Even back then you could only wade the river since so much was private property below the dam. Didn't have $ for a Yak/Canoe in those days. lol.
