I haven't been to many of the places mentioned, but I have to put Kreuz's at the top of my list so far.
What I can't believe is no one has mentioned County Line in Austin. I haven't been there in years, but I used to eat at the Hill location regularly and it was awesome. I'm not a dessert fan normally, but their bread pudding...wow. Almost worth the drive from McKinney just for that.

After 3+ years out east THE VERY VERY BEST OF EM ALL ... Country Tavern in Kilgore!!!!!!!!!! This man speaks the truth. I grew up in Kilgore and eat CT just about every trip back. Some of the best ribs you'll ever eat. Oh yeah the potato casserole is fantastic too.
