First trip this past saturday, only an hour and a half, 16 GOODUNS,albeit males, and probably had 8-10 more that hit, ran, and spit hook.

I got a box for the sandie run that has NOTHING BUT rooster tails in it, and I NEVER COME HOME EMPTY HANDED.

I will be in Elgin on Wed, will drive right by the steps and the river in Circleville, may have to wet a line.

not enough room to post all 42 albums from my photobucket collection, so these will have to do:

All on Rooster Tails, exclusively, all on ultralight gear with 6 lb test line.

Heading out tomorrow morning for my second time. Better equipped this time. I got rooster tails, and about every other thing I saw people catching on yesterday. Also got some smaller hooks to tie flies for my fly rod. The guys fly fishing were catching twice as many as everyone else. I never even got a bite on mine but my flies were twice the size of theirs. Hopefully I'll catch a few!

If all else fails, river minnows seined from the river always work.

It should be time now for the females to move on up. The weather should have the water warm enough.

Went today and launched the Yak from the primitive launch. Went up past Comanche about 1/2 mile, fishing the whole way. Found several small males here and there and two keeper sized females that were released. I couldn't find any concentration of fish anywhere. One here, one there......

We came out today. It is a beautiful day. We have about 20 between my girlfriend and I. But are still here fishing. We caught mostly males. She is using river minnows, I'm using white 1/16 rooster tails.
There are a lot of people out here. Way too many people fishing the steps area. So we went upstream away from the steps.
I haven't seen a limit today. Most have 10 - 12 fish. This place should be ready to get good in the coming days.
Tight lines !

Glad someone caught some I didn't do any good out there today. I counted 38 cars when I drove by the steps at 9:00 this morning.

We ended up with 16 total between us. The small river minnows seem to be the best bait. But the 1/16 oz rooster tails didn't do too bad. I strained my back using the seine to catch those minnows. Too bad the store bought shiners don't work as well as the river minnows.

Walking back to my vehicle with my gear and our stringer was rough too. I'm getting too old I guess. I'll have to rest up before going back out. LOL

All in all, It was a nice way to begin this year's white bass fishing. I hope to be back out soon.

Tight lines to all.
