I bought an older sportsman 9'6" buggy yesterday and I am looking for a trolling motor or small outboard in the Lubbock area or possibly further if it's a good deal. I am also interested In any accessories for it like rod holders, seats, depth finder, etc...
Email Kevin at Kevin.kerr@ttu.edu
Thanks!

Some of this is true...He is 6'3 and he does stand up all the time...245? ehh not sure about that. haha Seriously though I am a big guy too and stand in mine no problems, they are pretty solid. Two guys standing at the same time is a bit tricky but one guy no problem.

is 70lbs too heavy? I wouldn't run the thing wide open either. I can't find any info on TPWD website about HP rating of boats... There is a plate on the boat that lists the max HP for that vessel. Exceeding that is unlawful. That being said I dont think it would hurt anything if you did mount that larger motor. Just watch out for the man!

Thank you Mr. Helper for your input.
244 lbs is closer to the truth.

I'm sure it will hold the weight but if you plan on transporting your boat to different areas you're back will regret a heavy motor. I have a 2.5 hp Mercury on my 10' Bass Raider. I can get 5 mph when I'm by myself. The 2.5 hp two stroke only weighs 28 pounds. It also has a built in gas tank that will save you valuable floor space not to mention the better fuel economy.

Never heard a fisherman giving a lighter weight,LOL

I am about to begin building a movable "rack" to hold a fish finder. Im making it out or pvc pipe. imagine the seat bracket, with a plate mounted on top, instead of the seat. it will fit in the grooves the seat bracket fits into, and can slide forward and backward, depending on if im fishing alone, or with a buddy. ill post pics when im finished. it looks good in my mind..hope it looks good once its finished. lol
